Location & naming
Adams Masjid & Islamic Centre stands on Ngong Road at Adams Arcade — a place of worship, learning and community for Nairobi's urban Muslim population.
The name Adams comes from the Adams family, who originally owned the land and the nearby shopping mall. Over time the masjid and the neighbourhood around it became widely known by that name.
What began about seventy years ago as a modest community masjid, under the Adams Masjid Charitable Trust, has grown into a respected religious, social and educational hub.
The masjid is governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees. Daily life is carried by the imam, staff and volunteers who look after prayer, education, welfare and events — all sustained by the community it serves.

A community masjid
Established through a community initiative led by the Adams Masjid Charitable Trust as a modest place of worship.
2010s
Outgrown
By the early 2010s, space at the arcade could no longer meet the needs of a growing congregation.
2015
Rebuilt and extended
A major renovation and extension began, transforming the masjid into a modern three-level facility of about 14,000 square metres.

The redevelopment of the early 2010s gave the congregation a main prayer hall with greater capacity and natural light, a dedicated sisters' prayer area with modern ablution facilities, and three-level basement parking for busy hours and Jumu'ah.
